Armed police swarm streets with 'man detained' and large cordon in place

Armed police have descended on a series of residential streets in Stretford this afternoon.

Residents in the Gorse Hill area reported hearing screaming and a large number of officers, including armed officers, arrived just before 2pm.

One eyewitness has told the Manchester Evening News she saw officers put a man against a wall before eventually leading him into the back of a police van.

A cordon is in place covering a number of streets including Stanway Street, Taylor's Road, Nansen Street and Haddon Street, as well as an alleyway.
