Armed police surround Leeds house in hunt for wanted man

Armed police surrounded a house in Leeds in their hunt for a wanted man.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police were called to a property in Ashton Road, Harehills, after receiving a report the man had entered the terraced house at 7.53pm on Wednesday, July 27. Crowds of onlookers could be seen gathered around as the police made their search and taped off the are with a scene guard.

Their search was unsuccessful and the hunt for the man, who is wanted in connection with an assault and firearms activity continues. The force has since released a statement.

A police spokesman said: "At 7.53pm yesterday (Wednesday), police received a report of a man who was wanted for an assault entering an address in Harehills.

"Armed officers were deployed to the address in Ashton Road as information suggested the subject was linked to firearms matters.
Officers carried out a search of the address, but the subject was not located. Enquiries are ongoing."
