Armed police descended on Birkenhead as part of a hunt for three men who were seen acting suspiciously.
Officers were called to Oakdene Road at around 9.05pm on Sunday where a major search was carried out.
Witnesses reported seeing three men entering a house on the street and armed officers searching the area.

Woodchurch Road was closed near to Woodchurch Primary School and a police helicopter was seen circling overhead.
Merseyside Police said the search came after reports that three men were seen getting out of a car and acting suspiciously in the area.
A police spokesperson said: "We were contacted at 9.05pm last night, Sunday July 25, following reports three males had been seen getting out of a car and acting suspiciously in the area of Oakdene Road.
"Officers were deployed to the area and enquiries were carried out. An area search was commenced but nobody was traced and the incident was stood down."
