Armed police storm hotel to arrest suspected knife thugs

Armed police stormed a hotel to arrest a man and woman suspected of carrying out terrifying armed robberies and burglaries.

After a three-day manhunt Cheshire and North Wales Alliance Armed Policing unit tracked down the suspects believed to have carried out shop robberies armed with knives in Runcorn and Frodsham.

Police also wanted them in connection with aggravated burglaries and fraud allegations reports Cheshire Live.

An armed response vehicle officers apprehended the suspects at the Paddington House Hotel in Manchester Road, Warrington.

Just before 3.30am, Cheshire and North Wales AAP tweeted: “For three days ARV have been trying locate a pair wanted for a number of offences in the Runcorn and Frodsham areas.

“Tonight officers from ARV and various units have attended a hotel and arrested two persons for a number of shop knife robberies, aggravated burglary and fraud.”

Two people were arrested in the swoop.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "Detectives investigating a series of knife point robberies in Runcorn and Frodsham have arrested two people.

"The 30-year-old man and 27-year-old woman from Runcorn were both arrested at around 11.30pm on Wednesday, July 14 at a hotel in Warrington.

"The man, who is from the Frodsham area, has been arrested on suspicion of four counts of robbery and two counts of burglary.

"The woman, who is from Runcorn, has been arrested on suspicion of one count of robbery."

They remained in police custody this morning where they are being questioned by officers.

Police say the robbery arrests relate to incidents between July 10-14 at Runcorn Expressway Service Station on Thomas Jones Way; the Spar, Palacefield; One Stop shop, Helsby and Townfield Lane, Frodsham.

The burglaries relate to break-ins at homes in Stenhills Crescent and Brereten Close in Runcorn.
