Armed police storm home after reports of 'man threatening to shoot somebody'

Armed police stormed a quiet street in Oldham following reports a man was 'threatening to shoot somebody'.

Witnesses reported seeing a huge emergency response on Brewerton Road, near the junction with Lees Road at around 9pm on Tuesday.

Officers searched the home, but no weapon was found.

A 60-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of malicious communications, police said.

A GMP spokesman said: "We were called shortly before 9pm to Brewerton Road in Oldham to reports of a man making threats to shoot somebody.

"We have attended and searched the property. We have not found a firearm. Somebody has been arrested."
