Armed police storm block of flats in Lawrence Weston - arrests made

Two people have been arrested after armed police stormed a block of flats in Lawrence Weston.

Vincent Close was blocked off as several police vehicles descended on the residential road at around 9.30am this morning (March 27).

One resident said she heard a "huge amount of screaming" as police officers entered a block of flats on the road.

Officers carrying out a search warrant under the Firearms Act then arrested two people on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "A search is underway at a property in Lawrence Weston today (March 27).

"The road was closed briefly for specialist officers to enter the property at about 9.30am. Officers are carrying out a warrant from Bristol Magistrates under the Firearms Act.

"Two people have been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs. The search continues.

"Local beat managers and PCSOs are in the area today to offer reassurance and talk to local residents about today’s police activity."
