Armed police stage dramatic raid at Liverpool home in search of firearms

Armed police raided a Norris Green home in search of firearms, police said.

Officers carried out a firearms warrant on Prestbury Road at about 9.20pm on Sunday evening, while scores of families in the area quarantined themselves indoors.

Dramatic pictures from the scene show armed officers outside of a house as armoured police vehicles were parked up.

Police said nothing was discovered after searching the home.

Chief Inspector Andrew Creer said: “On this occasion we did not find a firearm but we will continue to carry out warrants to disrupt criminals who we suspect may seek to store, carry or even use firearms even while current restrictions on movement are in place.

“We continue to execute warrants to disrupt criminal activity in the area and rely on the community cooperating with us and giving us information which we will act upon.

“Our work has not stopped in the relentless pursuit of criminal activity across Merseyside and we are grateful to the community in helping us seek out criminals and put them before the courts."

Anyone with information on criminal activity is asked to contact @MerPolCC, 101 or @CrimestoppersUK, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
