Armed police smash down door after reports of man making threats

Armed police have been spotted raiding a home in Bristol, with officers smashing down a door.

The police attended the flat at Great Ann Street in St Jude's after receiving a call at around 2.40pm flagging up a concern for a man's welfare.

An Avon and Somerset Constabulary spokesman said: "He had been making various threats so as a precaution firearms officers have joined other officers to provide reassurance to the local community.

The spokesman added: "We've visited the property where he lives but it was empty."

A video of the door being smashed down was posted on Twitter by 'Chopsy Bristol'.
