Armed police shut down Edinburgh street after serious incident

Police and the emergency services raced to a residential area in Edinburgh yesterday following a serious assault.

Armed police, sniffer dogs, and the ambulance service shut down Bingham Medway at around 3.55pm on Wednesday, 21 July.

Cops confirmed to Edinburgh Live that two men were found to have suffered serious injuries.

A 31-year-old man was rushed to Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary while another man, 57, was treated by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

According to locals, there is still a heavy police investigation ongoing at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.55pm on Wednesday, 21 July, we received a report of a serious assault on Bingham Medway in Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and two men were found to have suffered injuries. One of the men, aged 31, was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment to serious injury, the other man, aged 57, was treated by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
