Armed police shoot man in planned operation in Wimbledon, London

Armed police officers have shot a man during a pre-planned operation in Wimbledon

The man was wounded at around 8.10am on Monday in Lacock Close.

He was taken to hospital shortly afterwards and officers are awaiting news of his condition.

The shooting occurred during an operation carried out by the Metropolitan Police's Flying Squad branch, who were assisted by armed firearms officers.

A number of roads in the area have been closed and a forensic site has also been set up.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct has launched an investigation into the shooting.

A second man was arrested during the incident, for conspiracy to rob.
