Armed police were called to Glyncoch near Pontypridd on Sunday after a 41-year-old man was assaulted near his home.

Officers were called to Darren Court on Garth Avenue at 7.40pm on Sunday, November 24 after an assault.

A South Wales Police spokesman said there was an extensive search which involved the police helicopter and that armed officers were sent to the scene as a precaution.

He said: "Officers have not yet made an arrest and the search for the suspect - who is known to police - is continuing."

The man who was assaulted was taken to hospital with non-life threatening facial injuries.
