Armed police search Patchway home after 'weapon sighting'

Armed police searched a home and vehicle in Patchway following a reported weapon sighting.

There were social media reports of a heavy police presence in the area on Monday (January 18).

Officers were seen on Windermere Road and Rodway Road at around 8pm.

An Avon and Somerset police spokesman has now confirmed an armed unit carried out a raid on Rodway Road.

He said: "Following a person reporting they believed they had seen a weapon inside a vehicle earlier in the day, an address in Patchway and vehicle were subsequently searched.

"That search proved negative and no evidence of a weapon was found."
