Armed police rush to Cathcart block of flats as officers recover two firearms

Armed police rushed to a block of flats in Cathcart last night following reports of a man in possession of a firearm.

Police Scotland confirmed they attended the scene of the incident on Delvin Road at around 9.20pm. However, there was no trace of the individual. They carried out further searches on Kirkwell Road.

Two firearms were recovered by officers from a property on the southside street.  It was confirmed that a 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9.20pm on Monday, 29 June, 2020, police were called following a report of a man in possession of a firearm on Delvin Road, Glasgow.

"Officers attended and there was no trace of the individual. Further enquiries were carried out at an address on Kirkwell Road in Glasgow and a 24-year-old man was arrested in connection. Two firearms were recovered from the property."
