Armed police respond to reports of alleged serious assault in Trebanos

Armed police officers were called out to an address in the Swansea Valley on Sunday evening following reports of an alleged serious assault.

Officers from South Wales Police's armed unit were called to Swansea Road, in Trebanos, on Sunday (June 14).

There were several reports on social media at the time of sirens and a heavy police presence in the area.

Residents in the area also reported Swansea Road was closed during the incident.

Police have confirmed the alleged victim was found to be safe and well.

A statement from South Wales Police said: "We received reports [of] an alleged serious assault.

"Officers, including armed officers, attended an address in Swansea Road, Trebanos about 9.55pm – there were no offences disclosed and the alleged victim was found to be safe and well."
