Armed police race to Scots street amid reports of man wielding firearm

Armed police raced to a Scots street after reports of a man being in possession of a firearm.

Four police vehicles and armed response officers were called out to Halbeath Road, Dunfermline, just after 3pm on Friday April 16.

Officers were seen standing on the street in video footage of the incident.

A 37-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

No firearm was recovered following a search.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a man believed to be in possession of a firearm near Halbeath Park and Ride in Dunfermline at around 3pm on Friday, 16 April, 2021. Armed officers attended and the man was traced.

"No firearm was recovered following a search.

A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the matter and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
