Armed police race to scene after woman 'seriously assaulted' at Scots property

A woman has been rushed to hospital following a "serious assault" within a Scots property.

Armed police raced to Winram Place in St Andrews after the attack happened at around 11.10am on Sunday, October 24.

Ambulance crews attended and the woman was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.

Pictures taken by locals on the street show swarms of police at the scene.

At least six police cars are parked at either side of the street, which has been cordoned off by officers.

Police say their enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received report of the serious assault of a woman within a property on Winram Place in St Andrews around 11.10am on Sunday, 24 October, 2021.

"The woman has been taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
