'Armed' police race to ongoing incident in Glasgow

Cops have raced to an ongoing incident in the south side of Glasgow.

Areas of Battlefield Road and Clarkston Road have reportedly been cordoned off as locals reports armed police on the scene.

Eyewitnesses say a huge presence of officers across Battlefield/Cathcart/Mount Florida streets since the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).

A stretch of Battlefield Road is inaccessible to the public from the bottom of Holmlea Road.

Reports on social media also suggest a section of nearby Merrylee Road, at Clarkston Road, is sealed off, as well as Craig Road at Clarkston Road, and Brunton Street.

Bus services have also been redirected this morning due to police vans blocking off routes.

Locals in the area believe someone may have been stabbed during the incident.

One eyewitness said: "I heard it was two pals, one guy stabbed another one late last night.

"They’re both okay. It’s a big deal about nothing.”

Another said: "We heard a man was stabbed, its a lot of drama, there was a police helicopter out last night too, I thought it was going to take my roof off.”

A local business owner said: "Police here since last night I think, been here since I opened this morning “

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment by the Daily Record.
