Armed police were called to Larbert over the weekend after a man was spotted with a gun.
Emergency services raced to Bellsdyke Road following reports a man was holding a firearm on a bridge over the M9 at around 6:20pm on Saturday evening.
A number of officers could be seen in the area hunting for the person.
But no-one was found.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 6.20 pm on Saturday, 6 March, 2021, police were called following a report of a man in possession of a firearm on a bridge on the A88 over the M9 near Bellsdyke.
"Officers, including armed officers, attended and no-one was traced."
