Armed police investigate reports of gunshots on Aberdare street

Armed police were called to an Aberdare street after reports of gunshots being heard in the area.

Officers received several reports from residents in Windsor Street, Trecynon, of shots being fired.

Police were called to the scene around 9.30pm on Monday, February 1.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said that due to the nature of the call, firearms officers attended the area on Monday night and the road was temporarily closed.

A police cordon has been set up and it remains in place on Tuesday (February 2) while investigations continue at the scene.

Witnesses reported seeing forensic police officers working at the scene.

The spokesman added: "We can confirm that nobody was hurt during the incident."

Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information, who may have been in the area at the time, should call police on 101 and give reference number 0037740.
