Armed police officers have been spotted in Troon as it is feared someone is on the loose with a crossbow.
Residents took to social media after they noticed Dukes Road and Union Street in the Troon area were being closed off by police.
And some claim that there was a person armed with a crossbow.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman: "At around 8.05am this morning (Wednesday, May 8), police received a report of a man in possession of a weapon in Templehill, Troon.
"Officers attended and a 59-year-old man was taken to hospital for assessment."
