Armed police in standoff outside house after man seen with pitchfork and knife

Armed police and negotiators have been called to a residential street following reports of a man brandishing a pitchfork and knife.

Lancashire Constabulary have blocked off Dovedale Avenue in Ingol - with ambulance services also at the scene.

A police spokesperson told LancsLive: “We were called around 8.05am today (Friday, May 22) to a report of suspicious circumstances in Dovedale Avenue, Preston.

“It was reported a man was seen walking on the street with a sword.

“Officers attended with the man found at an address in possession of a pitchfork and knife.”

Police are now in negotiations with the man and a cordon has been set up due to concerns for his welfare.

Multiple emergency service vehicles can be seen blocking the road.

North West Ambulance Service have confirmed they are at the scene.

A spokesperson told Lancs Live: “We were in attendance to this area. It is a welfare incident.”
