Armed police descend on village after man found in street with leg injury

A man was found in the street with a leg injury after a report of a shooting.

Armed officers rushed to the scene on Rambsrook Lane, Hale Village, on the border of Merseyside and Cheshire on Tuesday evening.

At about 8pm they found a man, at the side of the road, who had a leg injury.

He was taken to hospital for treatment for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives are hoping to speak to him later today.

Armed officers made a search of the area and patrols in the area were stepped up.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police was this morning unable to detail the exact nature of the injury or if there was evidence a gun had been fired.

This morning Widnes Police said: "Ramsbrook Lane is currently closed off at both ends so if you are travelling out of or towards Hale Village, please find an alternative route."
