Armed police descend on residential Burry Port street after reports of man with knife

A man has been arrested after he was involved in a stand-off with armed police on a residential street in a Welsh town.

Police arrived at Williams Terrace in Burry Port, Carmarthenshire, shortly after 9am on Friday morning. They were responding to reports of a man armed with a knife making threats.

Armed officers attended the scene and a 20-year-old man was located nearby. He has been arrested, both in connection with the incident in Williams Terrace and on suspicion of an assault that happened elsewhere earlier on Friday.
