Armed police descend on Pontypridd street following reports of someone with a firearm

Armed police descended on a street in Pontypridd after it was reported a firearm was pointed by someone driving a white van.

South Wales Police said that at approximately 4.15pm on Sunday, March 14, armed officers stopped and arrested two men travelling in a vehicle along Ynysybwl Road, Glyncoch.

The arrests were made in connection with an incident, which had been reported earlier that afternoon.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "At approximately 2pm three youths walking along Cefn Lane had what they believed to be a firearm pointed at them by somebody who was driving a white van.

"A 28 year-old man from Cardiff and a 16 year-old boy from Taffs Well were arrested and are currently in police custody. A BB gun was recovered by officers."
