Armed police deployed to Fife home amid reports of 'hostage situation'

Armed police have been deployed to a house in Ballingry amid social media reports of a 'hostage situation'.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Services were initially called to Kirkland Gardens at around 4.30am on Wednesday.

A number of police cars and paramedics then descended on the street a short time later.

Social media pictures show a number of police cars around the property which has been taped off.

A spokesperson for the Police Scotland said: "Police Scotland is currently in attendance at Kirkland Gardens in Ballingry following a disturbance.

"The incident is contained and there no risk to the wider public. Residents are thanked for their patience and understanding while the incident is ongoing."
