Armed police deployed to disturbance where an air weapon is discovered

A man has been arrested after armed police surrounded a home in Somerset today (Sunday).

Residents reported seeing nine police vehicles and "20 armed officers" swoop on Nightingale Way and Eagle Drive, near Midsomer Norton at 12.30pm.

Officers were seen pointing a weapon at a building in the area, reports Somerset Live.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police confirmed an air weapon was recovered from the scene.

He said: "We were called to a disturbance in Nightingale Way, Midsomer Norton at about 12.30pm today.

"Firearms officers were deployed to the scene due to the nature of the incident.

"An air weapon was recovered, and a man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm with intent."
