Armed police closed off busy Bristol road during incident

Armed police descended on a busy road in Kingswood this evening after a man threatened to attack another man.

Officers set up a cordon on Regent Street near to / Downend Road at around 4pm today (Monday) and re-opened the route shortly before 5:30pm.

 

Witnesses described seeing officers with firearms and sniffer dogs searching the area.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said they were called at around 4pm.

He said: "A man reportedly threatened another man.

"We have closed the road while officers attempt to find the man who made the threats.

"We expect the road to re-open shortly."

Traffic monitoring system Inrix says: "Very slow traffic due to earlier police incident on A420 Regent Street One Way Street between Blackhorse Road and A4017 Downend Road. All lanes have been re-opened."
