A heavy police presence attended a Weston-super-Mare street following reports of a man making threats.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary confirmed armed officers were called at about 4.30pm today (April 14) to Ashcombe Road.
A force spokesman said: "He was refusing to leave the property and a cordon was put in place as a precaution.
"Police officers negotiated with the man who agreed to come out of the premises and was taken to hospital.

"We are treating the incident as a concern for welfare.
"Firearms officers were in attendance as a precaution and to provide community reassurance."
A witness, who wished to remain anonymous, said six police vehicles were on the scene, including a dog unit.
The police cordon has been lifted.
