Armed police called to reports of gang with machete in Henbury

A search has been launched for three men armed with a machete who tried to batter their way into a block of flats in Henbury.

Armed police were called at 1am today (Monday) to reports of a group of men using the weapon to force their way into the communal entrance of the apartment block at Crow Lane.

The offenders fled after a resident contacted police.

No one was injured in the incident and no property was stolen.

A search of the area was carried out and footage from CCTV cameras in the area is now being reviewed in a bid to trace the culprits.

A police spokesman said: “A police firearms unit responded to reports of a burglary in progress at an address on Crow Lane, Henbury at approximately 1am this morning (Monday 16 November), in which a group of three men armed with a machete forced entry to a communal entrance of an apartment building.

“The offenders left the building after a resident contacted police.

"No injuries were caused and no property appears to have been stolen.

“Officers have conducted an area search and are reviewing local CCTV as part of an ongoing investigation."
