Armed police called to reports of a disturbance in residential Cardiff street

Armed police responded to reports of a disturbance on a residential street in Cardiff on Saturday.

South Wales Police said they received reports of a disturbance on Croyde Avenue, Llanrumney, at around 11am on Saturday (May 23).

A spokesman said armed officers also attended as a precaution to ensure the safety of the public and police officers.

A witness had reported seeing the armed police in nearby Manorbier Crescent, Rumney.

In a statement, the force said: "Shortly after 11am this morning officers were called to an address on Croyde Avenue following reports of a disturbance.

"Armed officers also attended as a precaution to ensure the safety of the public and police officers.

"The matter remains under investigation."
