Armed police called to 'disturbance' in Livingston which left man in hospital

Armed police were called to a disturbance in West Lothian which saw an injured man being taken to hospital.

Emergency services rushed to Muirfield Way in Livingston around 4.20pm on Saturday.

Several police vehicles were at the scene and some drivers were told to stay in their cars for around 20 minutes for their own safety.

Reports on Facebook suggested a knife or bladed weapon may have been involved, with a badly injured man seen being helped into an ambulance following the disturbance.

A man has been arrested in connection with the incident, which police continue to investigate.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "A 38-year-old man was taken to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

"A 32-year-old man has been arrested. Enquiries are ongoing."
