Armed police called in after 'sword' reports at popular Park and Ride

ARMED police swooped on Halbeath Park and Ride on Sunday evening after reports that a man was allegedly in possession of a sword.

Officers were called to the facility and photos posted on social media show armed police gathered at a Citylink bus bound for Edinburgh shortly after 7.30pm.

Police have now confirmed that there was "no criminality" after the person was first spotted in Lochgelly.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police received reports of a man believed to be in possession of a weapon on Reid Street in Lochgelly around 7pm on Sunday, April 16, 2023.

“Officers attended and the man was traced a short time later at Halbeath Park and Ride.

“Further enquiries were carried out and no criminality was established. Suitable advice was given to the man and there was no further police action.”
