Armed police attend violent disturbance in Pontycymer which left several people injured

A number of people were injured and two vehicles were damaged during an alleged violent disturbance in Pontycymer, police have said.

Police say they were called to Oxford Street shortly before 3.30am on Saturday, July 4.

Firearms officers were also called to help out the divisional units in the area, and three people were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said the three people – two men, aged 25 and 27, from Pontycymer, and a 19-year-old woman from Pencoed – have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

She added: "An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information which could assist them, to come forward."

Officers want to speak to anyone who has CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage of the incident or the moments prior to or following it.

Anyone with information should contact 101, quoting occurrence 2000236136 . Crimestoppers can also be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
