Armed police at Tesco supermarket after 'shaken' victims of aggravated burglary flee there

Armed police went to a Tesco Express store in Cardiff last night after reports of an aggravated burglary at a nearby property.

Officers were called to the supermarket in Cardiff Road, Creigiau, at around 7:20pm on Wednesday, February 17 , after two people fled to the Tesco Express store and told staff three men had forced their way into their home.

The victims were said to be "shaken up but uninjured."

Divisional units attended alongside armed police, however, the suspects fled with a quantity of cash. Enquiries are now ongoing to identify them.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police confirmed detectives in Cardiff were investigating an aggravated burglary at an address in Creigiau.

They added: "Armed officers were deployed alongside divisional units at around 7.20pm yesterday (Wednesday, February 17), after two people fled to the Tesco Express store in Cardiff Road, where they told staff three men had forced their way into their home.

"The victims were shaken but uninjured, and the suspects fled with a quantity of cash.

"Enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspects who are each described as white, approximately 5ft 8in tall, and with English accents."

They urged anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident, or who had information which could assist the investigation to contact police.

"Officers would also like to hear from anyone with CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area.

"Please contact 101, quoting occurrence 2100057035."
