Armed police at Springburn KFC as teenage boy rushed to hospital

A teenage boy has been rushed to hospital after a disturbance at a KFC in Springburn, which has led to armed police officers being called to the scene.

Emergency services raced to the fast food restaurant on Springburn Road at 6.45pm tonight (Friday), and a 15-year-old boy has subsequently been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

Police Scotland say his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Glasgow Live: "We received a report of a disturbance on Springburn Road, Glasgow, around 6.45pm on Friday 18 October 2019.

"Armed response officers were the closest resource to the incident so they were first on the scene followed by conventional officers.

"A 15-year-old boy has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with what appears to be non-life threatening injuries. Inquiries are ongoing."
