Armed police arrest man in connection with FOUR shootings across Toxteth

Detectives are set to question a man over a series of shootings across Toxteth .

Officers raided a flat in Liverpool city centre this morning, arresting a 27-year-old man in connection with four incidents spread across eight months.

He was arrested on suspicion of a Section One firearm, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of a controlled drug.

The incidents he is set to be questioned over were all street shootings - though no-one was injured in any of the attacks.

The first two were separated by two days in January and saw forensics officers examining one of the crime scenes in the snow after a late night shooting.

He has also been arrested on suspicion of a shooting in March and then one in July in which shots were fired on the junction of Erin Street and Laxey Close.

That incident sparked a chain of events that led to Miles Street being cordoned off and a man arrested when a scrambler bike collided with a car.

A nearby alley was also closed when police found the injured rider's scrambler bike, which had been removed from the crash scene.

The man was detained when Merseyside Police's anti-gun and gang crime MATRIX unit executed a warrant on Dale Street.

He is now set to be questioned in connection with:

- Shots fired at a house on Lothian Street on January 28

- Shots fired at a home on Selborne Close two days later

- Shots fired at a property in Park Street on March 14

- Shots fired at the junction of Erin Street and Laxey Close on July 24
