Armed police and sniffer dogs involved in hunt for ‘agitated man’ in Llanelli

Armed police and sniffer dogs were deployed after reports of an 'agitated man' in New Dock Road, Llanelli , this morning.

There was a heavy police presence near Llanelli train station as officers responded to reports of an incident in a nearby property.

The road was closed for public safety whilst officers dealt with the incident and it's understood local residents were told to stay indoors.

Police vehicles were spotted in both New Dock Road and Trinity Terrace at around 11am.

A statement from Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Dyfed-Powys Police officers responded to a report of an agitated man in a property in New Dock Road, Llanelli.

"The road was closed for a short period for public safety whilst officers engaged with the individual."

The statement said that at 11.25am an individual was arrested in connection with the incident and was currently in police custody.

A worker at Alex's hairdressers in New Dock Road said: "There was a very heavy police presence in the area."
