Armed Police and helicopter called to Neath as 24-year-old is hurt outside chip shop

There's currently a heavy police presence in Neath following reports of an aggravated assault this afternoon.

The incident happened outside Hikary’s Fishbar on Briton Ferry Road and officers were called to the scene at 3.54pm on Monday where a 24 year old man suffered minor injuries.

Pictures which were taken around 4:30pm on Monday show a number of police vehicles in Neath.

Reports on social media suggest that emergency services including armed officers and the ambulance service were in the area as well as a police helicopter.

Enquiries are ongoing to identify and trace the two men responsible for the assault.

South Wales Police Chief Inspector James Ratti said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to identify and trace two men responsible for the assault.

"Officers have been conducting enquiries in the area but we are keen to hear from anyone else who was in or around the Hikary Fishbar, that may have seen or heard anything, that they think may assist our investigation.

“There will be an additional police presence in the area as we understand the concerns that members of the public may have following the incident."
