Armed police and fire service reported to have closed off Cardiff road due to incident

Armed police are reported to have sealed off a Cardiff road following what's been described as a police incident.

South Wales Fire & Rescue said officers were asked to attend Cowbridge Road East, in Canton, at 6.25pm on Wednesday, July 29.

A spokeswoman said it was relating to a "police incident" that was currently ongoing.

Witnesses at the scene said it was unclear what was going on, but there were reports of armed police being in attendance and officers were said to have entered a house.

It was also claimed by a witness that people in the street were asked to leave the area 'pretty quickly'.

South Wales Police has been contacted for further comment.
