Police are appealing for information after armed men in balaclavas forced their way into a house in Bellshill and demanded money earlier this week.

A man was assaulted in the incident, which occurred on Tuesday, May 13.

Around 00.50am a 39-year-old man made his way home from work. Shortly after arriving home two armed suspects attended his home and forced entry, demanding money.

Both men struggled with the home owner and eventually made off, empty handed.

The man did not require any medical attention.

Detective Constable Graeme Stoddart of Wishaw CID said: “The man was not injured but was left shaken as a result of this incident.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything around the time to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 0120 of 13 May.
