Man, 22, shot dead by police on motorway, lanes closed

Police say officers shot the man after a confrontation.

A man has been shot dead by police in an incident on the Logan Motorway, at Drewvale, in Brisbane's south.

Police said they were initially called to the scene at 6:00am after reports of a traffic hazard.

They were then confronted by the 22-year-old man, from nearby Calamvale, and threatened with a knife.

"Police shot the man and immediately rendered first aid," a police spokesperson said in a statement.

"He died a short time later."

The eastbound lane on the Logan Motorway has been closed and significant delays are expected for most of the day.

The incident will be investigated by the Ethical Standards Command and overseen by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
