There was a large police presence in Dovecot yesterday, as matrix and undercover police raided homes in Dovecot.
A picture of a man holding a gun on the roof of a Dovecot house was shared widely on social media.
Merseyside police have this morning confirmed that the person pictured was an undercover police officer.

The officer was part of an armed police team carrying out raids in homes around East Prescot Road.
Six men were arrested when officers stormed the houses on the evening of Thursday, September 2.
A number of properties were also searched by the officers and a National Police Air Service helicopter was also involved in the operation which is targeting serious and organised crime in the area.
A spokesperson from Merseyside Police previously told the ECHO yesterday: "We can confirm officers are in the Dovecot area this evening, Thursday 2nd September, as part of a pre-planned operation targeting serious and organised crime in the Merseyside area.
"Matrix and uniformed police officers assisted by armed response and the National Police Air Service helicopter have been involved in the operation.
"They have been taken into custody where they will be questioned by detectives."
