Armed man arrested after Civic stand-off

A stand-off between police and an armed man closed off a section of Civic overnight.

Police were called to the city at 11.15pm on Monday to deal with a man believed to be carrying a firearm.

A section of Bunda Street, bounded by Genge Street and Constitution Avenue, was closed off for public safety.

AFP Specialist Protective Service officers, helped by ACT police and several ambulance crews, negotiated with the man for about two hours.

The incident ended with the man's arrest about 1.30am.
