Armed intruders target Co-op store in Bolton

Staff have been left shaken after armed intruders targeted a Co-op store in Bolton.

Police were called to the store on Tonge Moor Road at 6.50am this morning (March 13) after two armed intruders forced their way into the store.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed officers attended reports of an 'armed robbery'.

Enquiries are ongoing. It has not been confirmed what - if anything - was taken.

The shop remained closed throughout the morning, before reopening to customers at around 12pm.

A Co-op spokesperson said: "An incident occurred at our Tonge Moor Road store early this morning when two armed intruders forced their way in to the store.

"Fortunately, no one was hurt, however colleagues were left feeling very shaken and are being fully supported.

"We call for anyone who may have seen or heard anything to come forward to police - who are investigating - in order to help to put a stop to these dangerous criminals in our community."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 635 of March 13; or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
