Four people have been arrested in Waterford after armed Gardai stormed a property in the city – with drugs, cash and a firearm seized.
A follow-up raid on another residence in Waterford saw Gardai come away with €15,000 in cash and around €4,000 worth of drugs – as well as a double-barrelled shotgun.
A man and a woman, both in their early 20s, were arrested at the scene of the raid before being released. Officers are preparing a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man and 34-year-old woman were this morning arrested in connection to the seizures and are currently being detained at Waterford Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

The seizures took place at properties in St Herblain Park and Williamstown in Waterford, and saw cocaine and suspected Alprazolam tablets – with an estimated street value of €4,000 – taken.
The search operations took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, and included Gardai attached to the Waterford Crime Unit, the Armed Support Unit, Cahir and the Southern Region Dog Unit.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
