Armed gardai raid Louth and Dublin homes as part of Robbie Lawlor murder probe

Armed gardai have carried out a series of raids as part of a suspected money laundering operation linked to the murder of hitman Robbie Lawlor.

Officers made further arrests as part of the investigation in early morning raids in Louth and North County Dublin on Tuesday.

Back in April, €50,000 was seized from a car at a service station off the M7 in Co Laois, just two days after the murder of killer Lawlor.

Two women, in their 20s and 30s, were arrested and later released without charge.

A massive investigation has continued since April.

During the most recent operation, two men aged in their 20s and 30s were arrested and since released without charge.

A large number of mobile phones and SIM cards are believed to have been seized in the raid, which Gardai hope will lead to more information about the Lawlor murder.

The gangland hitman had 124 previous convictions. He was also one of the prime suspects in the gruesome death of Drogheda teenager Keane Mulready-Woods in Dublin in January.

Lawlor had travelled to the Ardoyne area of North Belfast on April 4 with three other men when a gunman sprayed him with bullets before fleeing the scene with the trio who had led him to his death.

The 36-year-old had wrongly believed he was there to collect a €20,000 drug debt.

Gardai are now satisfied that evil Lawlor attacked 17-year-old Mulready-Woods and watched him die.

A second suspect then hacked up the body with an axe.
