Armed Gardai swarmed a Dublin area and intercepted a vehicle yesterday arresting one man in a massive drugs seizure in the capital.
As part of ongoing investigations targeting serious organised crime, five kilogrammes of Ketamine with an estimated street sale value of €300,000 was seized.
Officers from the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), intercepted the vehicle and searched the premises in West Dublin on Tuesday.
The seizure brings the total amount of Ketamine seized by Gardai in separate operations in the past 24 hours to €900k.
The arrested 36-year-old is currently being quizzed at Crumlin Garda Station where he can be held for up to seven days.
A Garda spokesman added: "No further information is available and investigations are ongoing."
Speaking about the €600k Ketamine seizure that also took place yesterday, Revenue described it as an important sting in their investigation.
A spokesman said: "As part of an intelligence led operation, Revenue officers seized 10 kgs of Ketamine with an estimated value of €600,000, following a search, under warrant, of a house in the Crumlin area of Dublin.
"The seizure was made as a result of a joint intelligence led operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau and the Special Crime Taskforce.
"A 26 year old man was arrested at the scene is detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act 1996 at Crumlin Garda Station.
"Investigations are ongoing.
"This operation was part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
