Armed gang 'behaving like animals' try to smash their way into Aldi store

This is the terrifying moment an armed gang 'behaving like animals' tried to smash their way into an Aldi store in front of horrified shoppers.

Wielding poles and knuckle dusters, the gang attempted to break into the branch in South Ruislip on Monday at around 6pm, MyLondon reports.

Shopper Emma Downing said: "I had the misfortune of witnessing the staff get brutally attacked by a large group of young teenage youths, boys and girls, who behaved like a pack of animals.

"They had poles and knuckle dusters for weapons.

"I’m surprised no one was killed.

Shocking footage taken at the scene shows two youths repeatedly smash a fire extinguisher into the front door of the store.

A man can be heard speaking to a member of staff, who appears to be security, saying "Do you get paid enough for that?" as one of the gang tries to force open the door.

Another witness, who was in the shop, said: "There were kids in the store and parents huddled in the corners".

Heather NeillMc, who was also there, wrote on Facebook : "Three employees had their faces smashed and blood was on the floor.

"Crutches were used as a weapon, a fire extinguisher and anything they could get their hands on".

A Met Police spokeswoman told Mirror Online an investigation was underway to find the suspects.

She said: "Police were called on Monday, 30 September at approximately 18:00 hours to reports of a disturbance and assault in Victoria Retail Park, Ruislip.

"There were reports of a group of youths assaulted members of staff at a supermarket, threw items and damaged property.

"Officers attended but all suspects had left the scene. No reports of serious injuries.

"Enquiries continue to identify and trace those involved.

"Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact police in the West Area CU on 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD5853/30Sep.

"Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
