Armed police raced to a busy Glasgow shopping centre after a man was spotted with a 'gun'.
Police say they received a report of a man in possession of what appeared to be a firearm in the St Enoch Centre yesterday, July 22.
Officers were called to the area at around 6.10pm, where they then searched the shopping centre.
Following that, an 18-year-old man was tracked down and has since been arrested and charged
Meanwhile, police say a BB gun was recovered.
During the incident, residents took to social media to report several armed police rushing into the centre.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 6.10pm on Wednesday, 22 July, 2026, we received a report of a man seen with what appeared to be a firearm in Glasgow City Centre.
"There were no reports of anyone injured or any firearm discharged.
"Officers attended and traced him in the St Enoch area. A BB gun was recovered and an 18-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection.
"He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday, 23 July."
