Armed cops storm Salford street following reports of man with gun - and make four arrests

Armed police storm a main road in Salford last night (Friday) following reports of a man with a gun.

The drama unfolded shortly after 8pm.

Police said they were called to reports of a man 'brandishing a firearm'.

Cops went into a property on Cromwell Road.

A number of armed officers were among those to respond.

Several armed police vehicles. along with three response cars and two carrier vans, were seen parked on Cromwell Road near the junction with Rowsley Street.

The police helicopter was also heard circling the area for around half an hour.

An witness said four men were seen being brought out of a flat.

Greater Manchester Police said no evidence of a gun was found at the scene, but confirmed four people were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.

"Officers attended and following a search did not find any evidence of a firearm," a spokesperson said.

"Four men have been arrested on suspicion of intent to supply class B drugs.

"All remain in custody for questioning."
